Book Talk: "A Place Called Home" - CAST Educational Program
A long-time librarian, Silcox thrives on research and delved deeply into historical records in Ohio as well as Minnesota to make this story as true to life as possible. One of her goals was to write a book about this important time that would present the history in an approachable format that would appeal to all ages. Silcox grew up in New Ulm and was always fascinated by local history. Nancy learned many “new to her” things about her hometown and was inspired to dig deeper into the families that came to this new land in the 1850’s to found New Ulm. Nancy will talk about her book, the inspiration behind it, and the process of writing and having it published. Copies of Nancy’s book will be available for sale at the presentation. Hosted by the CAST Senior Center, CAST Educational Programs were developed to reach a wide audience of senior citizens, providing a variety of interesting subjects via in-person presentations and experiences. Scheduled year-round, we host programs at the CAST Senior Center, but also travel to area libraries, museums, places of interest, and other Senior/Community Centers in our area to introduce Seniors to the many program opportunities that are available. Our programs are open to the public and there are no membership dues. Unless noted, the programs are provided free, and no preregistration is required. Carpooling is available for out-of-town trips. Check out our program schedule every month and join us for our next event. We look forward to seeing you!
