SUMMARY:CAST Trip - Prairie Ecology
DESCRIPTION:Trip Details: We will be traveling to St. Peter for this presentation\, which is free and open to the public. Preregistration required so we know how many will be attending. Register by calling 507-354-3212 (leave a message with your name\, phone number\, and if you need to carpool so arrangements can be made). We will leave the CAST Senior Center Parking lot at 10:15am. Program Overview: Prairies once made up 1/3 of Minnesota and covered over 18 million acres. Today\, that same prairie area has been reduced to just over 1% of its original range. This is a stark decline\, but there is also hope. Come learn about the Minnesota prairie\, the people working to ensure its survival and how we are all connected to the Minnesota prairie legacy--through the sounds\, sights\, smells and memories for all who are lucky enough to stop and take notice. Presented by Megan M. Benage\, Regional Ecologist\, Division of Ecological and Water Resources\, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
